The ruling Grand National Party, a GNP faction supporting former chairwoman Park Geun-hye and the minor opposition Liberty Forward Party have agreed to set an 18-month grace period for the implementation of a law related to non-regular workers.
GNP lawmaker Cho Won-jin, a member of the parliamentary labor committee, told a news conference Thursday that the ruling party decided to accept the 18-month grace period proposed by the minor party.
Cho blamed the main opposition Democratic Party for the collapse of talks on the issue. He said that in a Tuesday negotiation, a DP lawmaker proposed a one-year moratorium, but the next day the party rejected all proposals on setting a grace period.
Cho and other GNP lawmakers called on labor committee chairwoman Choo Mi-ae to resign, saying she refused to chair the committee despite repeated requests by GNP members. |
