Russian Lawmakers: N. Korea Preparing Long-Range Missile Test

Russian lawmakers who just visited North Korea say Pyongyang is preparing to test a long-range missile.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Anton Morozov, a member of the International Affairs Committee in the lower house of parliament, said officials in Pyongyang told him the North was preparing to test a more powerful long-range missile. According to the officials, Morozov said, the missile would be able to hit the west coast of the United States. He said the officials told him the test would be soon.

Morozov said that in order to reach the U.S., the missile would likely have to fly over Russian territory, raising further risks for Russia if the U.S. sought to intercept it.

According to Russia's RIA news agency, Morozov and two other Russian lawmakers visited Pyongyang from Monday to Friday.

Morozov told RIA that the North Korean officials even provided mathematical calculations that they believe prove their missile can hit the U.S. west coast.
