Seoul Metro, which operates subway Line One to Line Four in Seoul, has won a contract to conduct a feasibility study for a project to build a light rail transit system in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar.

The city plans to construct a 47-kilometer light rail system as part of a one-point-four trillion won transportation project.

The contract for a feasibility study is small in terms of money, but meaningful as it has paved the way for Seoul Metro to win construction orders for the main stages of the project.

Seoul Metro added that it is actively seeking to advance into the overseas railroad market, mainly in developing countries such as India, Laos and Vietnam.
