Prime Minister Han Seung-soo says Korea should prepare itself to speak for emerging economies in the next G20 summit slated for April.
He made the comment Sunday in an economic policy meeting, noting that President Lee Myung-bak received a positive response in the current G20 summit in Washington by urging emerging economies to help reform the world financial system.
Han also ordered ministries to swiftly devise a support system allowing Korea to play a significant role in major international conferences, asking the Strategy and Finance Ministry and the Financial Services Commission to devise ways to improve the global financial system.
He also urged proactive measures to address the financial crisis by closely monitoring the foreign exchange, financial and stock markets. |
