Nuclear Envoys of S. Korea, US to Hold Talks over N. Korea's Nuke Test
2016-09-12 Updated.

The top nuclear envoys of South Korea and the United States will hold talks in Seoul on Monday and Tuesday to discuss countermeasures, including fresh sanctions against North Korea over its latest nuclear test.

Sung Kim, the U.S. chief delegate to the six-party nuclear talks, will arrive in South Korea on Monday afternoon after he held talks with his Japanese counterpart Kenji Kanasugi in Tokyo on Sunday.

Kim is scheduled to have dinner with Seoul's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Kim Hong-kyun on Monday and hold talks on Tuesday morning before opening a joint news conference.

A South Korean government official said that the talks will naturally focus on the North’s fifth nuclear test and the slapping of more sanctions by the UN Security Council as well as by Seoul and Washington.
