N. Korea to send 150 Athletes in 14 Sports to Incheon Asian Games
2014-08-14 Updated.

The Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee said Thursday that North Korea submitted a list of one-hundred-50 North Korean athletes who will participate in the upcoming Asian Games in South Korea.

The committee said the North submitted Wednesday the list through the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), one day before the deadline.

The list includes North Korean gymnast Ri Se-gwang, who has been performing well in international gymnastics competitions. In addition, the list included five athletes in women's table tennis, who are likely to contend for a gold medal along with South Korea and China.

Pyongyang is sending athletes in 14 sports which the country is relatively strong at, including men's weightlifting and women's football.

North Korea also plans to send officials from its olympic committee, judges and reporters. The total number of North Koreans participating in the Asian Games, excluding its cheering squad, will reach 352.

With the North's submission of the list, all of the 45 OCA member countries have expressed their intent to participate in the Asian Games.
