'N.Korea Puts Stability Over Change'
2014-04-10 Updated.

South Korea has assessed that North Korea’s latest parliamentary session shows the North has chosen stability over change.

A Unification Ministry official in Seoul told reporters on Thursday that the North did not present any new policy direction or major changes in the personnel affairs in the first session of the newly formed Supreme People’s Assembly on Wednesday.

The official said that the lack of significant changes is attributed to the fact that over the past two years since Kim Jong-un came into power, the North has steadily revised and created laws and regulations to enhance his control.

The official said that Jo Chun-ryong, a new member of the defense commission, is believed to have been involved in rocket and missile affairs.

Meanwhile, the South Korean official assessed that Kim Jong-un has trust in his current cabinet and the parliament’s standing committee given that his key confidants such as Kim Yong-nam, Pak Pong-ju and Choe Tae-bok retained their seats.
