President-elect Lee Myung-bak has met with Russia’s Ambassador to Seoul Glev Ivashentsov.
In the meeting held Friday at Lee’s personal office in Seoul, Lee mentioned the two countries' joint development of the east Siberian region. He said the project will benefit both sides, adding that he'd like to launch related efforts right after the inauguration.
Carrying a congratulatory letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin, the envoy responded that ties between Seoul and Moscow are expected to enhance under the new South Korean leader.
The ambassador also delivered Putin’s invitation for Lee to visit during the Russian leader's term.
